Client Aspirations
Our client desired a bespoke rural home with modern finishes. It was crucial to maximise the panoramic views of the countryside, enhance the natural light throughout the home, and establish a strong connection to the outdoors. Outside space was important. The kitchen was to be the heart of the home and an entertainment area
Challenges
Required mitigation of any potential influence on the character and aesthetics of the landscape, emphasing the seamless integration of the new dwelling into the countryside; situated adjacent to flood plain
Our Response
We designed a bespoke home with 'H' block footprint and detached garage. The east wing has a large open plan kitchen/dining/living area for entertaining purposes, a utility, WC on ground floor. The first floor houses the master bedroom with covered external balcony, an expansive en-suite and dressing area. There are also 3 guest bedrooms, 1 with en-suite, and a main bathroom. The single storey central block containing the lounge joins the 2 wings. It also includes the main entrance area with stairs to the first floor of the bedroom wing, overlooking the open plan lounge from the top of the stairs. The central lounge offers large areas of glazing, a feature fireplace and deep stone piers framing the views outwards. There is an external covered seated area off the open plan living space. The external area includes a BBQ/kitchen area, uncovered seated area with sunken fire pit, and a hot tub/jacuzzi area. The double garage accommodates 2 cars and is linked to the house by a covered area/carport.
