Designing Homes in Ireland for Clients Worldwide

Designing Homes in Ireland for Clients Worldwide
How we design homes across Ireland for clients living abroad, through a careful process shaped by place, experience and continuity.

We regularly design homes in Ireland while our clients are living elsewhere. Whether based in London, Australia or Dubai, this way of working has become a natural part of our practice, supported by clear communication, trust and a carefully considered design approach.

Distance does not change the fundamentals of good architecture. Each project begins with a careful reading of the site, an understanding of context and landscape, and a clear brief. These principles remain central, regardless of where our clients are based.

Designing with clients living abroad requires clarity and continuity. Regular communication ensures decisions are made with confidence as the design develops. Clients remain closely involved throughout, with email, phone and video conversations, including video calls from site where helpful, allowing ideas to be shared clearly and collaboratively.

This approach is reflected across a number of completed and ongoing projects with clients based around the world.

Lough Eidin House was designed for clients who had recently returned to Ireland after many years living in Australia. They spoke about their appreciation of Australian-designed homes, developed during their time living there. This resonated with us, as contemporary Australian architecture is often characterised by clean lines, open-plan living and a strong connection to nature, adapting international influences to suit the local landscape through indoor–outdoor living and verandah culture.

This influenced the design, which takes a strong, low-lying linear form with clean lines and large expanses of glazing, alongside integral covered patios and external areas that create a clear indoor–outdoor flow. The design places strong emphasis on natural light, ventilation and connection to the landscape. This approach also informed the materiality, with durable natural materials chosen to harmonise with the context and environment, including timber walls and a galvanised corrugated metal roof.

Designed for clients living in Dubai, Redcastle House is the alteration and refurbishment of an existing home overlooking Lough Foyle. Developed through clear drawings and regular communication, the project progressed to completion while the clients were overseas, resulting in a composed and carefully resolved response to its coastal setting.

Designed for clients living and working in London, Laurel Hill House involves the restoration and extension of a former rectory, alongside its coach house and outbuildings, to create a multi-generational family home. The project brings together conservation, reconfiguration and contemporary additions, with key decisions now in place and works on site due to commence shortly.

Across these projects, one thing remains consistent: trust, clarity and confidence in the design as it develops. We continue to design homes throughout Ireland for clients living both locally and abroad.
